I needed a holiday dinner that would be mostly ready for us when we got back home around 5:30 pm if I didn't want to spend my Christmas eve in the kitchen. When I planned our Christmas Eve menu this year, I wanted a festive holiday dish that was more hands-off since our tradition is to attend Christmas Eve Mass at 4:00pm. Cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 6 hours or on HIGH for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. That recipe is very easy but requires frequent basting and attention. Place ham in a 6-quart or larger slow cooker. Cook the ham on low for about 20-30 minutes per pound, or until it reaches 140☏. If it doesn’t fit, top the crockpot with foil first to trap the heat in. Be sure the internal temperature reached 140☏ before removing from the crock pot. Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours. Once the sugar dissolves, pour the mixture over the ham and in between the spiral slices. Add glaze over the top of the ham, then close the lid. In a small saucepan over high heat, combine brown sugar, honey, mustard, cloves, and water. Once fully cooked, remove ham onto a large, rimmed, serving platter. Cover and cook on low heat for about 6 hours or until the meat is tender and falling off the bone, and the internal temperature reaches 140☏. Pour honey and then pineapple juice over the top of the ham. ![]() ![]() Covered will need closer to the shorter cooking time. Place the spiral ham in your crockpot with the cut side facing down. Place ham in the crock pot, cut side down. Uncovered will give a slightly crisper exterior and need closer to the longer cooking time. I have cooked this ham both with and without covering it with foil.
